Our programs are designed, so that the left and right sides of the brain are constantly stimulated
by either story, or activity. This constant switching of left brain and right brain creates a
dynamic learning environment that encourages retention.

THE STORY OF WHY THERE ARE SO MANY STORIES
STORIES ARE A GREAT WAY TO DELIVERY INFORMATION! OUR BRAINS ARE WIRED FOR IT, & IS WHY OUR ANCESTORS USED IT TO PASS DOWN CULTURE & LESSONS FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS. AT PSK WE USE IT AS A POWERFUL WAY TO INCORPORATE THINGS LIKE HISTORICAL FACTS, GEOGRAPHY, LITERACY, MEMORY & IMAGINATION. WE ALSO USE STORYTELLING AS A FUN WAY TO INTRODUCE NEW CONCEPTS & ACTIVITIES. IT KEEPS KIDS CONSTANTLY MOVING FROM STORY TO TIME TO ACTIVITIES, & GIVES PURPOSE TO EACH LESSON. RESEARCH FOUND THAT USING STORYTELLING AS A LEARNING TOOL HAS BENEFITS LIKE:
OUR APPROACH TO LEARNING
Play Smarter Kids uses an array of enrichment classes as the foundation of our curriculum. We’ve found that keeping children in a dynamic learning environment in which they can explore various subjects allows them to learn complex skills in playful ways that encourage developmental growth and interpersonal socialization skills.
Enrichment classes in Science, Art, Culinary, Dance, Play-botics, Martial Arts, Technology and Music are offered on a weekly basis. Parents can customize their child’s schedule based on specific class offerings per day or explore a variety of classes in our half day and full day program.
Social development is incredibly important for early learning. Our enrichment classes allow our preschoolers to interact with many different children while also keeping our main class sizes small. Our small class sizes and group learning allows for continual social guidance from teachers in a nurturing way.
At Play Smarter Kids we use individual techniques to develop each child’s emotional development. For some children this may mean calming techniques to deal with feelings of anxiety, or over stimulation. For others, it may mean educating them on the tactfulness of their phrasing. Each emotional approach is based on each child.
One of the keystones of the Play Smarter Kids philosophy is celebrating each child’s individuality. Allowing students to express themselves and giving them the proper words to use in order to do that is key to building self-confidence, communication skills, and respect for themselves and others.
Enrichment classes such as Dance, Yoga, and Martial Arts are designed into our weekly class offerings to help with physical development. Motion and movement activities are designed into each enrichment class where students participate in an average of 3-4 activities/ hour, creating a playful way to move & learn. Multiple outdoor activities are incorporated into our daily program for outside play.
Fine motor skills are important when building writing skills. Students participate in various fine motor activities through our enrichment classes, literacy games, and individual exploration activities such as clapping a beat, using pipettes to move liquids, or brush movements. We build upon these small motor skills, and gradually build into holding a pencil, and handwriting.
LANGUAGE & LITERACY
Early literacy is an integral part of our curriculum. We use story-based curriculum to incorporate rhyming literacy, vocabulary, and listening comprehension through our enrichment classes. This approach allows students to get group literacy throughout the day.
Once for half day students, and twice for all day, students have individual literacy time. During this time, teachers focus 5-7 minutes on each student individually progress with literacy skills such as speech, phonetics, numeracy, writing, and sight words.
